Liz Lynne praises 'landmark' speech by Nick Clegg

1.27.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 17th Sep 2008

LibDem leader Nick Clegg's end of conference speech throws down the

challenge to the other parties, says local Euro MP Liz Lynne.

Liz Lynne said: 'This was a landmark speech by Nick, a brilliant

performance. He made clear that this party is the only one that can deal

with the huge crises now facing this country.

'Gordon Brown's proud claim of the end of boom and bust rings pretty

hollow this morning - it looks like bust.

'And he challenged David Cameron to start being specific, so far all we

have had is words. That won't do. It is time for tough choices and Nick

Clegg is taking them.'
